Phonocast 08 – Jerome Derradji

From gigs at Chicago’s Smartbar alongside Moodymann, Hot Chip, Kevin Saunderson, Lindstrom, The Juan Mclean to international touring, from juggling multiple labels (including Past Due, Still Music, Stilove4music) to appearing on a handful of 12″s in the past few years, hard-working Jerome Derradji is one of Chicago’s best kept secrets. With support abroad from Deetron and John Talbot, and strong ties to the roots of Chicago house and Detroit techno, we are fortunate to have him digging in the crates for the Phonocast series. In this 70-minute session, he intuitively moves from disco boogie and rootsy vocal house to acid house, bleepy warehouse techno, and lush Detroit techno. This session was recorded on Saturday June 23rd at the Gramaphone shop on a pair of Technics, as ever.
