EVENT POSTPONED Casa Indio @ 1448 N Milwaukee Friday August 9th 2013

If you want to get your feet wet in the world of dance music, come to a panel discussion sponsored by Casa Indio and VICE Media this Friday night at 8 PM at 1448 N. Milwaukee Ave. in Wicker Park. Deck master Chrissy Murderbot will be moderating the hour-long chat. This “music and art experience across borders” is 21+ and requires a minimum $1 dollar donation. Hash out on everything from making music and DJing to record labels, distribution, shops, and more.

Work hard, play harder. The think-tank will be followed by sets and tagging battles featuring Hakim Murphy, The Black Madonna, Michael Serafini, Studio Casual, and others. Nosh and entertainment will be gratos, just so long as you can spare one lonely dollar to benefit the National Museum of Mexican Art. Beginning in L.A. and ending in San Francisco, this multimedia journey gives Mexican and American artists alike a creative space to collaborate.

And what better place to do that than Chicago? The National Museum of Mexican Art in Pilsen is the country’s only Latino museum to be sponsored by the American Museum Alliance. What began as a project of several Chicago Public School teachers has turned into a bubbling cauldron of creation. The museum is the only one that is free and open to the public, so if you haven’t had the chance to check it out yet, it should be next on your list. The cash bar will be stocked with Indio beer and other spirits, so gear up to have a good time. You may learn a thing or two from your community members and the Casa Indio crew.
