Chicago Music Summit 2013 @ Chicago Cultural Center & Randolph Theater Friday September 20th 2013 (Ongoing)

Chicago is the epicenter of sound. Whether it’s underground or right in the radar, people flock here to hear blues, jazz, house, rock, hip hop, and experimental beats. This year’s Chicago Music Summit will feature Common as the keynote speaker at the Chicago Cultural Center on Friday, September 20. Following Common’s speech will be panels and discussions held by business owners, performing artists, and media professionals. Learn from others’ successes and failures while listening to great music the whole time.

Workshops include the basics of crowd funding, non-traditional revenue streams, Chicago jazz, and a hip hop peace summit. Although registration is closed, performances are free and open to the public after 6 PM. Santah, Psalm One, Toronzo Cannon, Kembe X, and Marquis Hill will be performing in 20 minute segments in various rooms of the Cultural Center and Randolph Theater throughout the night. For a full listing of performances, visit the Chicago Music Summit page.

That’s not all. There will also be free neighborhood events everywhere from Humboldt Park to Rogers Park. Bar shows, club nights, and outdoor events in fall weather can be amazing experiences. Don’t miss this chance to check out a new spot and hear live music during one of the biggest music weekends in Chicago this year.

The Cultural Center is located at 78 E. Washington St.
