Ben UFO, Pearson Sound, Pangaea @ Smartbar Saturday September 28th 2013

Hessle Audio is a UK label that’s spearheading the British music scene by being on the cutting edge of everything electronic. Ben UFO, Pearson Sound (aka Ramadanman), and Pangaea are in town, and that means they’re breaking down the barriers between house, dub, and techno. Labels are superfluous, anyway. Come to Smartbar on Saturday, September 28th for a live show with the residents of London’s Fabric nightclub. If you arrive before midnight with a student ID or a Facebook RSVP, tickets are $10, and they’re $15 anytime after. Tickets are selling out, so we suggest you make plans in advance.

These three DJs started the Hessle Audio label in 2007 to encompass the wide range of strengths each artist has to offer. It’s a breath of fresh air to hear a track that uses percussion and synths to make a sound that’s organically electronic. Does that sound like an oxymoron ? It’s not. There’s a difference between quality ambience and repetitive rhythm, and Hessle Audio has nailed the former. Ramadanman recently opened for Radiohead in New York City, lectured at the Red Bull Music Academy in Madrid, and has been on the up-and-up since then. This is your chance to catch the trio for a Brit themed dance party and show them that Chicago parties harder than London.

Smartbar is located at 3730 N. Clark St.
