The Church Of Black Gold @ Elastic Arts, Saturday April 9th, 2016

Jerome Derradji’s Still Music imprint has been a dependable, adventurous outlet for rootsy Detroit sounds for over a decade, and his sublabel forays into acid techno, industrial, lost disco reissues, and beyond have shown a broad love for electronic music, dance music, and its progression.

This weekend, he is involved in the launch of a new venture described as “a collective response to a certain status quo in Chicago‚Äôs nightlife.” The event will feature performances by DJ Pauly, Cordell Johnson, James Vincent, John Ciba, Nic The Graduate, and Jerome Derradji himself. There will be sound assistance by Gera (of Podval infamy), refreshments by Illuminated Brew Works & New Belgium, and a pop-up record store courtesy of Logan Hardware. Altogether, it’s a remarkably ambitious, musically and thematically diverse offering.

The Church Of Black Gold is a 21+ event.
