Ron Blanco – Saint Isidore 12″ – Rhythm Nation

rn005Newcoming Irish producer Ron Blanco debuted a respectably structured 3-piece + Mall Grab remix 12″ last month via the new imprint Rhytthm Nation. The albeit brief introduction is underscored by two particularly eye-raising cuts, the namesake Isidore of Seville and Mall Grab’s take on Blanco’s original I Wait.

Isidore of Seville opens as a gentle lope with warm, diffuse bass kicks and embellishes the firmament with a crackling arsenal of auxiliary percussion. The chunky synth chords extend notions of some house classicism, while the sampled fare of mechanical squeaks and human spatter suggest Blanco’s more collage-infused sensibility. Its one of the most luminous tracks thus far this year and sounds like a kissing cousin to a Daphni endeavor. The gnashing hollow of the original version of I Wait is compelling enough to have prompted another look from Sydney party boy Mall Grab, who transforms the track into an austere chamber of echoes.

A solid and principled beginning from a young Deep House enterprise.
