Jerome Derradji – Brighter Days 12″ – Stilove4music

STILOVE4MUSIC047Label-head Jerome Derradji arrives to the scene with bell bottoms and a disco ball: these edits are feel good sunshine tunes and come ready for the club.

The Chicago-based label & label family has been going from strength to strength lately, with 12″ from Chicago’s Solid Gold Playaz on Stillmusic; The American Boogie Down compilation, Lee Moore’s quintuple pack, and a raft of reissues from Larry Dixon on Past Due; and an album from Al Kent & Devin Dare on Stilove4music.

But even with all of these projects in the works, it’s always a treat when Derradji takes a moment to step into the studio. House heads and disco fans should take note, the versions here navigate a comfortable middle-approach between Soundstream’s deconstructions and GAMM’s gentle retouches. The unmarked black labels make no mistake, the 12″ is aimed squarely at the DJ bags, flight cases, and crates.
