Andres – Second Time Around 12″ – La Vida
Don’t let the name fool you – this isn’t really only Andres‘ second time around, he’s been kicking out slinky funky house music since the mid-90s. But this is his second 12″ on the very warmly received La Vida imprint, the first being his New For U 12″, one of the underground hits of 2012.
Maintaining the pressure in as laid back a fashion as he can manage, the new EP winds down year in a style landing him somewhere between Kenny Dixon Jr. and Amp Fiddler. It is full-on Detroit with lush keys and loose loopy production laying under a canopy of string samples: dusty house music that’s sure to age well.
