Scott Grooves has a knack for understated, raw, and subtly emotive productions. An underrated DJ and producer, with a sound like a more soulful Levon Vincent, a more restrained Kai Alce, a less cosmic Patrice Scott, he often threads the needle with an infectious yet barely-there hook. On the title track, it’s a loose, blue keyboard line anchored by dry percussion, on the flip side he augments the percussion with some rhythmic stacatto chord interplay making for a thicker-sound. Both of these are slow burners, they have a gravity to them but without much weighing them down.
