ROYGBIV: First Friday @ MCA April 5th 2013

To kick off the weekend with some spring spirit, check out ROYGBIV, the Chicago Museum of Contemporary Art’s First Friday networking event on April 5th. The doors are open from 6 PM to 10 PM for anyone 21+, but the good vibes will surely get carried elsewhere when the party’s over. If you don’t schmooze, you’ll probably lose.

The museum began hosting First Fridays to bring open-minded people together in a culturally immersive atmosphere. Galleries will remain open for people who want to contemplate complex paintings and expand their horizons, but hors d’oeuvres (courtesy of Wolfgang Puck Catering) and drinks should be consumed away from the masterpieces. The quick cash bar offers brews, champagne, wine, and a variety of other tasty beverages.

Past events have offered free food, raffles, and easy DIY craft tables set up for entertainment. DJ Shade and DJ MassTransit will be at the turntables, followed by some flower beasts, Mothergirl and the Chicago Gay Men’s Chorus singing Beatles covers. Not convinced yet? A VIP massage lounge for MCA members, a museum-wide scavenger hunt, and a photo booth should keep you interested. At the very least, grab a drink at the bar and meet some fresh faces.

Tickets are $18 at the door and $14 dollars if you buy them online. These prices include museum admission, free food, and stimulating company. The Museum of Contemporary Arts is located at 220 E. Chicago Ave.
