Compilation 003 12″ – How To Kill Detroit

HTK003How To Kill does it again with their third release in an untitled compilation series.

Opening is an unknown, perhaps new artist recording under the name “Secrets” with a slow-jam disco edit. Following that, bassbin deforming kicks warble their way onto the dancefloor with The Friend’s second slow and low entry into the series.

Marshall Applewhite returns to fill up the B side, starting out with Muffy, a forboding acid house stomp, seemingly falling in with the tradition of James T Cotton’s dingier works, before adding a ravey breakbeat overtop. Closing out the 4 track sampler is an equally dark number pivoting on tribal vocal chants and hiccuping kicks.

Overall, the third in the series maintains the quality and will satisfy the cadre of followers already earned by this growing Detroit collective.
