Luke Solomon – Unfinished Business Volume 2 Part 1 12″ – Classic

CMCEP122This is a bit of a part of a remix compilation from Classic co-owner Luke Solomon. Sometime collaborator of Chicago’s Derrick Carter, this UK producer & disk jockey perhaps doesn’t get quite as energetic as some of Carter’s more party-rocking joints but he does show his deep house chops on these reworks.

First stop is Chez Damier’s Bootleg With Love, which gets flangey, strange, and syncopated over a stompy beat; Shake Me is an alternate version of an original Luke Solomon joint – it’s all cowbell and rubberized bassline along with the “shake” vocals and of course, shakers everywhere.

On the flip, Timedwellers’ 2002 12″ gets rerubbed with a heavy kick and bubbling low-end, Isolee’s classic Beau Mot Plage has an appropriately delicate rework dancing, chopped breaks dancing around the fragile hook.

Classic has been handling business for years, this record walks the well-worn path with confidence and creativity.
