Kez YM – Moving Vision 12″ – Yore

YER032Japan’s Kez YM keeps the dusty deep house vibe alive on Andy Vaz’ Yore imprint.

The opening track, Fixer, is an energetic, percussion-heavy tune with dense samples and multi-layered vocals for a live jam party atmosphere. Kez YM frequently dris aws from KDJ influences with his beatdown Detroit tracks, and this is a prime example. He does clean up nicely, though – Moon Light Trees has a more sleek, modern tech-house feel with soaring resonant synths gliding through the canopy of melodious tropical drumming. On the flipside, Extended Sunset is back to the tumbling rhythms of Fixer, with even more weight added in the low end. Weekend, finally, seems to fuse all of the above into a feel-good party jam with dueling basslines and all the vibrant distraction of a live mic’d recording.

Kez YM is a too-often unsung talent, consistently synthesizing broad-ranging influences and periods into a uniquely universal take on house music.
