Appian – Aprileft CD – Phuture Shock Musik
Sly Fox Records co-founder Malcolm MacLachlan is putting out his first full-length album on Bristol’s Phuture Shock Musik. Over the course of 14 tracks, Appian gives his take on forward thinking music with influences spanning electro, funk, techno, and hip hop.
Appian’s stronger suits come in the form of tracks like “U & Me” and “Space Beat”. Both are heavily rooted in funk; the former is an easygoing techno jam, the latter a computerized take on hip hop. Textured chords are the focus in “HyperSpace Dreams” as Appian goes a little more abstract.
Aprileft presents a variety of music in terms of tempo and approach and gives insight to what some of Detroit’s newest wave of producers have been up to.
