Ben Sims lends his name to another heavy record – while his recent on Hardgroove and Karlovak show an increasing proclivity towards the disco loop, he retains the hard-edged, quick-cut technique that’s kept him in demand for about 20 years. His sound here is a little slower, his samples a little thicker than before, and this fits him nicely into the current floor-focused disco house trend. But still, when this record finishes with The Money, the sizzling ride cymbal can’t wait and his full-throttle style shines through. The record could probably fit equally well within a techno or house set, but somehow it still isn’t called tech-house.
