Floorplan – Victorious 3xLP + CD – M-Plant

MPM28Floorplan’s second full-length album features Robert Hood and daughter Lyric dropping 9 cuts crafted for the dance floor. The LP is rife with looped vocal samples, gospel, and 90’s influences, giving many of the tracks a “festival” feel. Things are well-constructed in terms of sound and structure and the material is easy to mix, making the likelihood of this record cracking open a few high-energy dance floors quite strong.

Looking at Rob Hood’s catalog, I’m more drawn to tracks like “The Grey Area” or his production as Monobox. With that being said, I think I prefer the range on the first Floorplan LP, though fans of Hood’s more polished, big-room material will likely want to give this album a go. I am intrigued to see if this familial outing will lead to more material from Lyric Hood.
