Ant Orange ‎- Arkupe 12″ – Karaoke Kalk

KARAOKEKALK98Ant Orange fits perfectly within the loose oeuvre of Germany’s Karaoke Kalk imprint. Now nearing their 100th release, they’ve established a quirky, loose-limbed approach to electronic music, drawing from
kosmiche, house, ambient, techno, experimentalism, acoustic, rock, and most often blurring the lines in between these categorizations. The Arkupe 12″ exemplifies this cohesive yet strangely unbound journey.

Little Wing has an electric guitar lead and a lumbering drum set backing, Feld and the title track by contrast are almost nu-jazz, led by bluesy keys and broken beats. Big Lil’s is a space funk disco jam with a slap bass and cosmic instrumentation. It’s been a couple years and a couple records since Ant Orange appeared on Kalk, this rich EP is a welcome return.
